Why Not Rent a Villa in Denia in Spain for Your Holiday

Denia on the Costa Blanca in Spain, has long been a popular location for European holiday makers. With its many long sandy beaches north of town, it has become a popular holiday destination for many families, and both young and old visitors. It has a lot to offer everybody, and if you enjoy a busy holiday, it could be the ideal location for you. From Denia, you can even take the ferry to Ibiza for the day, or spend a weekend on the island of Formentera.

Top Class Villas in Denia

Many of the Denia villas offered by top villa rental agencies such as Interhome, are based on the Montgo. This local mountain forms part of the the Montgo Natural Park, and is well known for its natural beauty with wonderful walks, and even hidden beach coves. If, you are looking to escape from a hectic lifestyle, a holiday in Denia can be the perfect choice. Your villa is likely to be set in pleasant gardens with Spanish countryside nearby. Although Denia is one of the larger resorts on the Costa Blanca in Spain, it gives you the impression of a much more peaceful location.

The villas in the area are well looked after, and you always have the back up services of Interhome to rely on. Holiday makers have been coming to Denia for the almost 40 years, taking advantage of its proximity to the sea, and its favourable location close to a buzzing town and shopping center. However, when you are not in the mood for shopping, you can visit the tranquility of the local marina with its great selection of restaurants. If you enjoy relaxing with a plate of seafood paella, this is the best place to find it.

What Are the Best Things to See and Do in Denia?

During your holiday in Denia, you should take the chance to explore the local area. It may seem unnecessary to do so as you are probably enjoying the refreshing cool breezes in your villa or terrace. But, there are certainly plenty of things to see and do in the Denia area. Not only that, but if you would truly like to spoil yourself, you can even enjoy a day at the 5 Star spa at the Marriott resort. Look out for special offers such as two for one at the popular day spa.

The Denia Marriott resort makes an excellent day out for the entire family, and you may just want to make that a Sunday. Start the day slowly and enjoy the excellent Cava brunch offered by the hotel restaurant. The children will have access to the lovely outside pool area, and dad can always try his hand at golf, or improve his golf handicap, at the 27 hole golf course at the resort. Afterwards he can relax by the pool while mum enjoys a top class beauty treatment.

Denia castle is another place you simply must visit during your stay in Denia. It has daily guided tours during the summer season, but you are always free to explore the grounds of the castle. The castle has commanding views of the the Montgo and the marina. Whilst you are visiting this part of Denia, you should also take a chance to explore the old town. When you go for a walk around, you will soon realise that it has a distinct Moorish feel to it, and you can enjoy some authentic local cuisine. Denia is often called city of gastronomy by the locals and visitors.

Beaches on this part of the Costa Blanca

You may not believe this, but the Denia coastline has almost 20 kilometers of beach. The access to most of the beaches is very good. The beaches are well looked after, but don't expect life guards along this very long stretch of shoreline. The ones close to town all have life guards, however, there is nothing like the peace and quiet of the north of Denia beaches. You may even find that you will be able to enjoy your own stretch of beach. There are four accessible beaches in the area, and they can easily reached by car.

Common beach activities in and around Denia include both wind surfing and paddle boarding. The beaches are a little bit less commercialised than some of the beaches in nearby resorts, but that is the beauty of them. After all, you have not come on a self-catering villa holiday to be surrounded by others, and have to deal with overcrowded beaches.

Other Top Tips for Self-catering Rentals In Denia

The main supermarkets in Denia can be found in the middle of town. Most holiday makers to the area rent a car, and if you would like to relax in your holiday villa, it might be a good idea to do a stock up shop. The Carrefour superstore is located just outside town in the main shopping center called Portal de la Marina. This is the best and cheapest place to fill up the fuel tank in your rental car. The shopping center has a range of shops such as Zara, H & M and Spanish budget clothing chain Lefties. You can also enjoy a cinema and a variety of fast food and Spanish style restaurants.

One secret treasure of this part of the Costa Blanca, is the easy access to inland areas such as the village of Orba . A short drive into the countryside will find you in La Vall de Gallinera with its pretty Moorish villages located along the route. For a very authentic Spanish dining experience, it could be worth driving the route of the 8 Moorish villages and stop in one of the small restaurants, where you can still enjoy a 3 course menu del dia with wine for under 10 euros. The village of Forna, is the place time forgot, and has the most excellent local restaurant in the middle of the village. Park your car outside the village, and walk into the main square and you cannot miss the restaurant.

Denia can be described as the land between the sea and mountains. If you care to venture further inland, you will find beautiful canyons with streams where you can enjoy a cooling dip. But it can also be tempting just to stay put in your self-catering villa, and watch the sun set over the Mediterranean sea with a glass of red wine in your hand.
